With a great many windows and doors,

I like the green dining-room so much the best

Right over your head is a funny round hole

! r* i( n, x; a There's a big bunch of grapes all purply and sweet,

* U- S ~! d+ s* o- b& p) e3 c( [ They tumble and tumble, but never come down2 S$ v5 {4 v c0 c# X0 \3 @6 S
Though I've stood underneath a long while
/ Z* w6 {+ _) h, E0 a; e' ^; _# R% r With my mouth open wide, for I always have hoped* y9 F/ u. q {' z# G
Just a cherry would drop from the pile.3 N& p3 f- K1 J# Q' k
No matter how early I run there to look& ?% o! ~" S& d, p6 w& M! `
It has always begun to fall through;
$ {* u# U: o8 M' A' j And one night when at bedtime I crept in to see,9 @8 O; ] v7 h7 a- Q
It was falling by candle-light too.+ [5 h6 z) S9 W8 }5 L1 @/ w
I am sure they are magical fruits, and each one
5 f$ e+ J$ I( T; a8 a. l" j P- M Makes you hear things, or see things, or go
8 A4 e7 T0 s. g2 Q/ u; t Forever invisible; but it's no use,
; t- P2 O8 h' N! S And of course I shall just never know.% ?& N( x1 p! N4 o1 Z, z" x1 @
For the ladder's too heavy to lift, and the chairs
; J* b! P0 Z8 X5 n# d% n2 c0 } Are not nearly so tall as I need.
/ i/ W, {) h; Q; q" R X) r I've given up hope, and I feel I shall die
: l# Z& _8 T$ a8 M; I+ } Without having accomplished the deed.
) Q2 H8 v) U+ \- S6 o9 W It's a little bit sad, when you seem very near
3 b& u5 Z* _$ n5 F To adventures and things of that sort,1 T2 K8 J! `7 T3 G1 k+ n( \1 b
Which nearly begin, and then don't; and you know4 f, e5 z3 J0 u1 S
It is only because you are short.
